Much needed win over the Buccaneers

Girl’s Freshmen A basketball win a heart stopper battle

The basketball program at Clear Falls is one with a long history of winning. With new head coach, the program was looking to rebuild from the freshman team up. Coming into this season with little expectation but to win and have a lot of fun doing it, the Knights faced a tough road to their victories playing tough teams. On January 6th , the Freshmen A team walked into the gym fully confident they would take the W against the Brazoswood Buccaneers.

Mykayla Herrscher, a guard on the freshman A team, even stated that, “Knowing about how Brazoswood had played in the past, we felt pretty confident we could win.”

Around the middle of the game, they were losing by 5, but they got their score back up. But with the help from the bench cheering, “D-up!” and “Let’s Go! L-E-T-S-G-O!” The Knights quickly pushed the score back to even.

As the game moved ever so closely to the end, the team began to bite their nails as they wanted the W badly. Braelynn Standley led the team to the leg up on Brazoswood when she stole the ball and made a left-hand layup and made the basket. By the time the last tick of the timer struck, The Knights had won victoriously with a 37-36 score, and ended the night celebrating in the locker room with their teammates.
